Relational Roots is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens within relationships and the systems that shape our lives. Children, adolescents, adults, and families are supported to make sense of their experiences, strengthen communication, and navigate challenges with greater clarity and connection.
This approach is systemic, trauma‑informed, and attachment‑focused, offering a steady, attuned space for people to explore their stories and relationships.
Jenny McAuslane
BA (Hons) MSc, UKCP Registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist Clinical Lead
Jenny is the founder and Clinical Lead of Relational Roots and a UKCP‑registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience supporting children, young people, adults, and families. Her therapeutic style is warm, relational, and attuned, with the capacity to hold complexity and support people toward greater stability and connection.
She has worked across CAMHS, Local Authority, Education, and Health settings, contributing to multi‑agency planning and safeguarding processes and working collaboratively with the professional networks around families.
Jenny originally qualified as a Probation Officer, working with adults assessed as high risk of reoffending and harm. This early work strengthened her ability to understand behaviour in context, manage risk with steadiness, and work systemically with individuals and the wider systems around them.
She later worked within a Local Authority Multisystemic Therapy (MST) service, supporting young people and families experiencing significant relational and systemic challenges. During this time, she also held a dual role as Clinical Supervisor and Service Manager, supporting practitioners working with high levels of distress while contributing to strategic planning across services.
Following qualification as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, Jenny has worked across adoption, care‑experienced contexts, and wider community settings, drawing on systemic thinking to support children, young people, and families.
Alongside her clinical work, Jenny provides consultation and training to professional teams, supporting practitioners to work systemically, relationally, and with confidence in complexity.
This blend of therapeutic expertise, systemic thinking, and statutory experience enables Jenny to work confidently with families and the professional networks that support them.
