Training And Consultation

Overview

I offer training and consultation grounded in trauma informed, attachment focused, and systemic practice. Our work supports professionals across social care, education, health, and therapeutic services to deepen understanding, strengthen relational practice, and feel more confident when working with complexity.

Training For Teams

I offer bespoke training for teams working with children, families, and complex systems. Each piece of training is designed around the needs of your service and can be delivered as a short input, a half day workshop, or a full day training.

Trauma & Attachment Foundations

A grounding introduction for teams who want to understand how early experiences shape behaviour, relationships, and emotional regulation across different contexts.

Training can explore:

  • The basics of trauma and attachment and why they matter in practice
  • How early adversity influences development, safety, and connection
  • Understanding behaviour as communication rooted in relational history
  • Building emotional safety in everyday interactions with children and families
  • Supporting children who use defensive, controlling, or avoidant strategies
  • Recognising patterns of shutdown, overwhelm, and survival responses
DDP informed Practice and the PACE attitude.

An introduction to the core principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, supporting teams to use relational, attuned approaches that strengthen safety and connection.

Training can include:

  • The principles of DDP, including intersubjectivity and emotional attunement
  • Using the PACE attitude (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy)
  • Understanding defensive, controlling, or avoidant behaviours in context
  • Responding to distress and dysregulation in ways that prioritise connection
  • Applying DDP-informed ideas in education, social care, and therapeutic settings
  • Supporting carers and professionals to stay regulated and reflective
Systemic Thinking & Complex Family Dynamics

An introduction to systemic ideas that help teams understand patterns, relationships, and dynamics across the whole family system — including how trauma, history, and context shape present-day interactions.

Training can explore:

  • Core systemic family therapy concepts and their relevance in practice
  • Patterns that develop around trauma, adversity, and survival strategies
  • How roles, alliances, and intergenerational cycles influence behaviour
  • Understanding escalation, withdrawal, and conflict as relational processes
  • Working with multi-agency systems and noticing how professionals join patterns
  • Using reflective, curious, non-blaming approaches to shift stuck dynamics
